Movie review
2.5 stars
“Other Mommy” captured the attention of audiences with its bone-chilling trailer, but unfortunately, the film’s entire 93-minute runtime falls short of the story viewers were promised.
The film follows an 8-year-old girl, Bela, haunted by an entity that looks and sounds like her mother, attempting to win her heart and take her place on Earth. Jessica Chastain delivers a haunting performance as Other Mommy, with plenty of jump scares and paranormal activity. However, the plot falls flat.

The ending is boring and cliché, reading like a typical Netflix original. More disappointing is that the book that inspired “Other Mommy,” “Incidents Around the House” by Josh Malerman, has a more interesting and unique conclusion that the film abandons.
“Other Mommy” may have impressive visuals, phenomenal acting and a scare every few minutes, but it ultimately lets down viewers drawn in by its promotional campaign.
