4.5 Stars

Produced by seven-time (arguably eight) world-champion Lewis Hamilton, with appearances from every driver and team from the 2025 Formula 1 season, F1: The Movie has been embraced by audiences around the world, whether die-hard F1 fans or not. The film follows Sonny Hayes, a once-promising F1 driver who returns to the track nearly thirty years after an accident seemingly ended his racing career.

While the story itself is nothing special (compared often by critics to a classic underdog film), the racing scenes are exhilarating to watch. The schematics of F1 are blurred and aren’t entirely accurate, but the film captures and exemplifies the thrill of Formula 1. If viewers can gloss over the facts, it’s easy to enjoy the light-hearted and fun summer spectacle.
