On October 16, 232 Mason High School (MHS) Marching Band members gathered for what they believed was a regular rehearsal announcement when they received a surprise invitation: the group had been selected to perform in the 101st Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in November 2027.

The band was selected from more than 100 applicants nationwide to participate in the annual holiday parade in New York City. The celebration included a surprise entrance by one of three Marching Band Directors, Avious Jackson in a turkey costume, New York themed music and a presentation of a $10,000 donation from Macy’s to support the MHS band program.
