Chronicle All Stars – Fall 2021

At the conclusion of each sports season, the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) selects All-Conference teams for each individual sport based on athletes’ season performances. The Chronicle, however, has determined our fall sports selections for an All-Chronicle team.

Fall Sports Coach of the Year: Tom Rapp | Boys Cross Country

Rapp won his third state championship riding his team’s depth rather than one dominant athlete. Talk to anyone in the running community and you will immediately see just how respected Rapp is. Even his competitors can’t help but root for the success of the GMC’s Coach of the Year.

Shyla Aggarwal | Girls Tennis

Aggarwal became the first Comet to win the singles state championship in addition to an undefeated regular season. She put together one of the best individual seasons ever from a Comet in any sport, and proved she is not just a top player in the state of Ohio, but the entire nation.

Zach Cochran | Boys soccer

Zach Cochran was dominant between the goalposts from start to finish. In 18 games, Cochran saved 64 shots with almost a 90% save rate. He only allowed nine goals all year and shut down opposing teams with a clean sheet in 13 games and led the Comet’s to Districts.

Jayna Searles | Girls Soccer

Searles is a complete player at all phases of the game for the Comets. She led the Comets to a GMC and Southwest District Championship. She was a first team GMC selection, Division 1 Southwest Ohio First team, and second team Division 1 All Ohio. Searles is also a Bowling Green State University signee.

Timmy Hollenbeck | Boys golf

Timmy Hollenbeck was a commanding force on the golf course all season. His stellar performances included shooting five-under-par at the GMC Championships, and earned GMC player of the year. He averaged a 37.50 on the season, guiding the team to its second straight GMC championship and a sixth-place finish at the state championship.

Brooklyne Darby | Girls volleyball

Darby led the Comets to nine GMC victories and 15 wins overall. With a season total of 242 kills and 688 passes, she was unstoppable. Her powerful spikes struck fear in her opponents and opposing coaches voted her GMC Player of the Year. Her leadership was apparent in each game, helping the Comets take their sixth consecutive GMC title.

Aiden Amshoff | Boys cross country

Aiden Amshoff has been an outstanding runner for the boys cross country team. He earned GMC runner of the year, finishing first in the GMC championship and leading the team to a win with a perfect score. The senior also brought the team to victory in the state championship, where he finished with a time of 15:45.1, earning all state honors.

Skylar Horn | Football

Horn was the Comets most consistent player, maintaining a commanding presence all season at center. He stepped up on the defensive line when called upon using his size and strength to record several tackles. Helping to lead his team to the playoffs, Horn added intensity and strength into the Comet line-up.

Ally Madden | Girls Golf

Ally Madden dominated her golf season, leading Mason as one of the best teams in the state. Averaging 37.57, Madden guided her team to win their second consecutive GMC Championship as well as earned GMC Golfer of the Year.

Alex Deroussel | Boys cross country

DeRoussel came alive at the state championship running a personal record of 15:40, good enough to earn a spot on the All-Ohio team and finish first for the Comets. After finishing as the vital fifth man at the GMC Championship, Deroussel stepped up in the ensuing postseason races.
