Comets Dominate GMC Cross Country Championships

In one of the most competitive Greater Miami Conference Championships in recent memory, the Mason girls cross country team rose to the occasion, narrowly edging out a talented field to capture their sixth consecutive league title and 14th overall since 2010.

The Comets’ depth and consistency proved decisive, as Mason continued to set the standard for excellence in the GMC. Several runners earned All-Conference honors, including juniors Atalia Hawkins, Auna Korostyshevsky, Emily Moran, and Mitalee Godbole, along with sophomore Eva Mathur, highlighting the team’s balance and strength across the roster.

The Mason boys cross country team also delivered a dominant performance on the VOA course, defending their conference crown with a near-perfect team score of 19 points. Leading the way, senior Caden Winship captured the individual GMC championship and was named Conference Runner of the Year, capping off a standout effort for both himself and the team. Every Mason runner posted a lifetime personal best, and several earned All-Conference honors, including sophomore Isaac Mecum, juniors Eligh Amshoff and Paras Yadav, and seniors Luke Berkebile, Carson Wyss, and Luke Young, underscoring the Comets’ depth and balance across the roster.

The wins mark Mason’s sixth consecutive GMC titles for both programs and continue one of the most successful runs in conference history.  (Editor’s Note: portions of article provided by Mason Sports Information)
