Senior cross country runner Isaac Schachleiter has been dominant throughout the cross country regular season. He opened his season with a convincing victory at his home course, the Mason Invitational, winning by a 10-second margin.

Schachleiter’s next three meets were out of state, and he continued his brilliance. He placed second at the Trinity Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky, and led the Comets to a blowout victory. At the meet, he ran a personal best time of 15:11, the second fastest time in Mason High School history.

He followed up his historic race with an individual and a team victory at the Culver Academies Invitational in Indiana. His time of 15:44 was 11 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. He won the meet last season as well.

Mason’s three-week road trip concluded in Terre Haute, Indiana, for the Midwest Nike Cross Country Twilight Invitational. The Comets faced off against the top teams in the midwest region, including many nationally ranked teams, and placed sixth overall. Schachleiter was the first Comet finisher coming in 18th place overall with a time of 15:25.

Schachleiter heads into the postseason as one of the top individual runners in Ohio. He was a crucial contributor in the Comets’ state championship run last year but has emerged as their undisputed top runner in his senior season. Mason has hopes to repeat as state champions, and Schachleiter is leading that charge.
