Senior Ben Golan has taken on a major role early in the season for the Comets. Through five games, the forward leads the team in points, rebounds and blocks. His 10.4 rebounds per game are the most in the Greater Miami Conference.

Last season, Golan operated off the bench playing 11.5 minutes per game. This year, he has stepped up as a full-time starter and leader for the team. The senior has also made strides as a scorer. He improved from 3.9 points per game as a junior to 14.4 per game so far this year. That is good enough for eighth in the GMC.

He is leading the team in scoring and has improved his efficiency while taking more shots. Golan shot 36.5% from the field last season on 4.5 attempts per game and is shooting 50% this year on over 11 attempts a game. He has helped his team’s offense by grabbing four offensive rebounds each game which leads the conference.

Golan has also contributed as a defender. His 1.0 blocks per game are currently fourth in the GMC, and he is also averaging 1.2 steals per game.

The Comets are off to a successful start to their season with a 4-1 overall record. Golan exploded for 27 points and 12 rebounds in the Comet’s comeback win over the Springboro Panthers. Golan also grabbed 16 rebounds against Princeton. He led the team in scoring again in a win over Oak Hills with 13 points.
